Impulse for the beautiful

Bertram Grosvenor Goodhue (1869-1924) was an American architect in the Gothic Revival style and was also known for his interpretation of the Spanish Colonial into the Spanish Revival style. I love his pen and ink renderings of the buildings, he has a mastery of the technique that has greatly influenced my work. He was able to create a distinction between the various textures of a building and also landscape with his technique. He also had a mastery of light that creates a wonderful sense of space. I will be posting more of his drawings in future article.
